It is an adhesion promoter primer with 1:1 mixing ratio of base & hardner. The base consists of a polyvinyl butryal resin pigmented with zinc tetroxy chromate. When this is mixed with the phosphoric acid based catalyst, the resulting primer provides an anticorrosive primer. Etch primer is also known as a wash primer or pretreatment primer.
